Porcelain and Dekton Countertops

wood style kitchen with porcelain countertops
One of the relative newcomers to the kitchen countertops sphere is Dekton – a material related to porcelain that has an array of similar characteristics. Both of these options are available through our team at San Jose Kitchen Countertops, and we think they’ll make an excellent choice for all sorts of kitchen design projects. If you’re looking for something that will stand the test of time while delivering a truly gorgeous aesthetic, then either of these might be just right for you. Consider the information below or reach out to our customer service team for more details, they’ll be more than glad to discuss how we might be able to help you.

Introducing Dekton
You may or may not have heard of Dekton previously, so what exactly is this material? Having only been introduced in 2013, Dekton has slowly but steadily grown in popularity due to its broad and diverse physical characteristics, as well as its unmistakably attractive aesthetic. Dekton comes in multiple compositions, but is typically made using a mixture of glass, porcelain, quartz, and other materials. Using sophisticated processes that imitate the natural metamorphic change that stone undergoes in the natural world, Dekton is created. This means it has the best of the physical properties available through stone, but is usually available at a price that’s far more affordable.

Enduring Vibrance
When we buy belongings like countertops or furniture for our properties, we do so because they have a certain level of aesthetic quality alongside some practical characteristics. While things tend to go well early on, it isn’t uncommon to see the item fade or become discolored over time – and this can be a real disappointment, particularly if you’ve spent a lot of money on the item. Dekton has a significant advantage in this regard, as it’s highly resistant to UV rays which ultimately cause the deterioration and fading we’ve been speaking about. You can expect the installation to look as good after years of use as it did on day one.

Easy Maintenance
Nobody enjoys cleaning the kitchen – it’s not something anybody really does for pleasure. Mopping floors, cleaning surfaces, cleaning the sink – these are all things we’re loathe to do. Fortunately, if you decide to invest in a Dekton or porcelain kitchen countertop, you won’t have to worry about that installation too much. Neither of these material choices require the use of sealants or treatments like some other countertop materials, it’s as simple as wiping down the surfaces after eliminating any bacteria with cleaning solutions.

Practical Performance
The physical properties of both porcelain and Dekton are in the top bracket, and more than a match for most of the typical pressures that you’ll experience on a day to day basis in your kitchen. Both surface materials are extremely resistant to heat, and impacts like scratches and chips aren’t likely to cause any problems. Both of these materials have similar compositions, so it’s no surprise that they perform in a similar way in this regard.
